Start the New Year with a bang at your own theme party

4/12/2014

In just a few weeks we will, once again, be jostling about from New Year’s drink to New Year’s drink. Fun, no doubt, yet hardly original, right? So why not leave the traditional drink for what it is and offer your staff an entirely new experience: a New Year theme party! There really is no better way to start the New Year …

The theme of your perfect evening

Chinese New Year, Casino Night, an eighties cocktail party, or – even bolder – a Great Gatsby Night or a Retro Vintage Party … There really are no boundaries to what you can do here. One advice, though: choose your theme wisely and surprise your guests with in-theme invitations, catering, decorations and activities. You’ll be amazed by the response!

Something for everyone …

nieuwjaarsreceptie uitnodigingSales, accountants, administration, … Your party should be the perfect setting for people from all departments to come together and get to know each other in an informal setting. Always keep in mind, though, that each and every one of your staff members has their own personality and consequently may be looking for different things at your party.

As the host, it’s your job to make sure that everyone has a great time, both the accountant who prefers a quiet corner and the sales rep whose main territory is the dance floor. The best parties are those that offer something for everyone.

Evidently, the activities you offer should seamlessly blend with your main theme of the night. Are you celebrating Chinese New Year, then you could arrange a calligraphy workshop – this should really take your guests off-guard! ‘Classics’, such as a photo game, a gaming console or a foosball table can work just as well, as long as they add to the overall look and feel of the theme.

Isn’t a theme party expensive?

Your theme party can be as expensive as you want it to be. It’s just a matter of budgeting. For instance, if you invite an A-list band or DJ to play at your theme party, then, sure, it will cost you. You could, however, also opt for a much cheaper local band, saving yourself thousands of dollars. It’s a matter of priorities.

‘Wishing Upon a Star …’

Event organizer Cum Laude has years of experience with theme parties. Recently, they set up a huge birthday theme party for Wit-Gele Kruis van Vlaanderen, an organization offering home nursing services for the elderly. Aptly called ‘Wishing Upon a Star …’ the company’s 75th birthday turned out to be an unforgettable night.
